PRIMARY CARE
Primary care services take place at our Boca Raton Campus. The Watershed's primary care program combines the best elements of 12 Step Recovery, chemical dependency education, and psychotherapy. We believe this combination offers our patients the best pathway to recovery. Our therapists are licensed mental health practitioners, supervised by a Dr. Vanda Millman, a clinical psychologist.
CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY EDUCATION
The Watershed believes that educating it's patients is essential. The disease concept of addition is the foundation upon which each patient's recovery is built. This concept, once learned, ensures that our graduates understand that they can never safely use again.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Each patient at The Watershed receives intensive individual counseling and psychotherapy. This individual treatment plan is tailored to each patient's specific needs.
GROUP THERAPY
Group therapy is as diversified as our patient population. Group therapy topics include:
  • Family of Origin Issues
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Women's Issues
  • Men's Issues
  • Education
  • Meditation
  • Goals and Progress
  • Psychiatric Issues/Medications
12 STEP INVOLVEMENT
Each Watershed patient is introduced to an appropriate 12 Step fellowship and given the opportunity to attend daily 12 Step support group meetings, both in house and in the community. Below is a diagram depicting a typical meeting.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Treatment is accompanied by recreational activities that teach the patient's that fun is possible without the use of drugs and alcohol. The following is a partial list of activities:
  • Trips to local beaches (ocean), local parks, bowling, and movies
  • Attendance at local 12 Step sponsored events
  • Ping Pong
  • Exercise Equipment (i.e. stairmaster, stationary bicycle)
  • Cards
FAMILY THERAPY
The Watershed recognizes that addiction is a family disease that affects the whole family. Family members are taught that they didn't cause it, they can't cure, but that they can contribute to the recovery of their loved ones. Patient's are helped to address their own co-dependency issues. Families are aided in repairing the damage caused by the addicts disease. Regularly scheduled "Family Therapy Workshops" are offered free of charge.
