Our certified and distinguished professionals will help you to structure a foundation on which you can build the rest of your life. The majority of the rehabilitation program will be spent under the care of these experts as you uncover the underlying causes of your addiction. They will also be available for loved ones that wish to address issues that have developed because of addiction.
Dr. Peter Theodoropoulos – Psychiatrist
Dr. Peter Theodoropoulos is a Board Certified Psychiatrist practicing at The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs. Dr. Theodoropoulos graduated from the University of Michigan pre-medicine in 1995. He continued his studies at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 1992 where he received his Doctor of Medicine. Certifications include ECFMG (Science), FLEX (Clinical), USMLE 2 & 3 (clinical). Dr. Theodoropoulos continued his training at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital where he completed a five year residency and fellowship program in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry, where he was their chief fellow.
Theresa Bui, D.O. – Psychiatrist
Theresa Bui, D.O. has been an attending psychiatrist at The Watershed Treatment Facility in Texas since 2015 where she assesses and manages acute substance intoxication and withdrawal including but not limited to alcohol, opiates, sedatives/anxiolytics, stimulants, hallucinogens, cannabis. She also evaluates for and treats co-occurring psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar, schizophrenia. Dr. Bui has experience in early identification of mental conditions, long term stabilization measures, and believes in educating patients on their disorders to increase compliance and positive outcome. Dr. Bui received her medical degree from University of North Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her General Psychiatry Residency at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and therefore, can evaluate and treat a wide range of patients. She currently also works at a long-term residential treatment facility for children and adolescents as well as the county’s center for mental health.
Dr. Jared Heathman – Psychiatrist
Dr. Jared Heathman is Board Certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He grew up in Houston before graduating summa cum laude at Texas Christian University. He completed medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center before his residency in general and child psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch. While in his general residency training, he was awarded the Humanism & Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition to working at The Watershed in Clear Lake, Texas, Dr. Heathman also works in private practice at Your Family Psychiatrist, PLLC.

Steve DeMarco – Admissions Director
Steve DeMarco is the Admissions Director for The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs and has been with The Watershed since its beginning. Steve is a nationally certified addiction counselor and has over 20 years experience in treating people suffering from mental health and addiction problems. He has worked as an interventionist, counselor and an admissions specialist. Steve’s information and referral center helps over 10,000 people a month to find help for themselves or their loved ones at treatment centers throughout the United States. “We throw them a lifeline, and to it we are eternally tethered.”
Dr. Michael Slifer, M.D., PhD. – Medical Director of the Palm Beaches
Dr. Michael Slifer M.D., PhD. is the Corporate Medical Director and came to The Watershed Treatment Programs after spending the early part of his career as an academic physician scientist. Upon completion of his enlistment in the United States Army, Dr. Slifer used the G.I. Bill to facilitate his undergraduate education. Next, Dr. Slifer graduated medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He went on to Duke University for his Psychiatry training, where he then served as Chief Resident for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Additionally, while at Duke, Dr. Slifer completed a fellowship in Geriatrics, and went on to earn a PhD in Human Genetics and enjoyed quite a lot of basketball. Dr. Slifer came to Florida when he was recruited into a tenure track faculty appointment at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Slifer has authored university textbooks, peer reviewed scientific articles, and has been an invited speaker at scientific meetings around the world. Dr. Slifer came to The Watershed to return to his roots, his passion for intensive clinical medicine. He specializes in treatment of individuals with dual diagnoses (patients who suffer from chemical dependency in addition to other mental health conditions). Dr. Slifer is a board certified Psychiatrist, and he is among the first doctors to be board certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Dr. Bill Fisher, M.D – Medical Director of Clear Lake
Dr. Bill Fisher graduated from Stanford University in 1968 and later graduated from medical school at the University of Florida in 1975. He completed surgical residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California by 1977. He was at a private practice in 1977 and later completed graduate school in 1980 at the University of Houston. In 1980, Dr. Fisher became a NASA astronaut. He was a mission specialist that launched from Kennedy Space Center, Florida in 1985. Dr. Fisher currently works as the Medical Director of Clear Lake at The Watershed.
Jennifer Tiech – Program Director of Extended Care Programs
Jennifer Tiech is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and graduated from Nova Southeastern University. She is also a registered supervisor for the state of FL, helping other mental health professionals reach their goals. She has been working in the field of substance use disorders since 1989. Her passion is to help others and every day she feels that her goal is accomplished. She has been working at The Watershed since 2001 and began as a therapist. She has been a Program Director managing all different levels of the program since 2004.
Rashida Ross – Administrator of Clear Lake
Rashida Ross has been a full time employee of The Watershed Treatment Programs since 2002. Her educational background is Bachelors from The Pennsylvania State University and MBA from Nova Southeastern University. She is a Certified Addictions Professional Certified by the state of Florida and awaiting licensure as a licensed dependency counselor in the state of Texas. Her full time career began at The Watershed in Boca Raton, Florida as a Case Manager, then Adjunct Therapist in Boynton Beach, and later Program Director in 2007 for the PHP program. In 2017, Rashida was promoted to Administrator of The Watershed Treatment Programs in Clear Lake. She has a passion and her heart is with those who are suffering with the disease of addiction. She is greatly impacted by those who have fallen victim to all of the negative consequences that substance use disorders brings. Working with this population she has had the opportunity to witness what she believes as modern day miracles, as she sees people fully recover (physically, mentally, emotionally) and become able to reverse some damage that they believed was irreparable. This is why we fight so hard to conquer this battle with the disease.
Michael Prieto – Director of Nursing
Michael Prieto serves as the Director of Nursing at The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs of the Palm Beaches, Florida. Michael has extensive clinical and managerial experience in all aspects of behavioral health and substance abuse nursing. He is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for patients to successfully detox and recover from alcoholism and chemical dependency. He has worked as an Adjunct Professor teaching Psychiatric and Mental health clinical nursing classes. Michael holds a Master of Science in Nursing Administration and Financial Leadership from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University. He is ANCC Board Certified in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
Their expertise will be utilized throughout the treatment process. Particularly in medically supervising withdrawal in order to ensure safe and pain-free detoxification. Close medical evaluation and support will work to maximize the recovery process.
Dr. Mario Stefan – Medical Doctor, Palm Beaches
Dr. Mario Stefan has been working as a Medical Doctor at The Watershed Addiction Treatment Program for eight years. He cares for the non-psychiatric medical needs of Watershed patients. Dr. Stefan received his early medical training overseas, and after graduation he practiced medicine in the Amazon jungle and learned invaluable lessons in patient care. When he came back to the U.S., he trained at the University of Florida in Jacksonville and obtained his diploma as a family doctor specializing in internal medicine. Dr. Stefan gets real satisfaction out of working at The Watershed in the Palm Beaches, Florida, and he believes the treatment facility gave him a chance to change his perspective on who an addict is. Dr. Stefan sees addicts as the whole human beings that they really are, capable of change and healing.

Christopher Crosby, CEO – Chief Executive Officer
Christopher Crosby has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs since 2004. As one of the original founders of The Watershed, Mr. Crosby has worked in addiction treatment for over 30 years. Originally trained as a nurse, he has worked in most clinical areas of treatment as a behavioral health technician, crisis intervention counselor, detoxification and psychiatric nurse, group psychotherapist, and interventionist. He transitioned from direct patient care into administration and business development over a decade ago.
Patrick S. Kirse, CFO, COO – Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer
Patrick S. Kirse is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs. He has been with the company since its inception in 1998 and is responsible for overall performance of the company, oversight of mergers and acquisitions, financial planning and analysis, accounting, human resources, IT, physical plant, risk management, government relations and legal departments. Prior to joining The Watershed, Patrick held numerous positions at Deloitte and Touche, LLP in their management consulting and audit divisions and subsequently held positions as the Controller, Vice President of Finance, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer at several publicly traded and privately held companies throughout the U.S.
Vanda Milman, PhD, LMHC – Vice President of Clinical Services
Dr. Vanda Milman is the the Vice President of Clinical Services at The Watershed Treatment Programs. She holds a PhD from Southern Illinois University. Her PhD research was in the area of cognitive development. Dr. Milman was a Visiting Research Fellow in the Psychology Department, Neuroscience Program at Princeton University in Dr. Barry Jacobs Laboratory. She is an Advisory Board Member for the PhD Program in the Mental Health Counseling Department at Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Milman has over 15 years of experience as a psychotherapist and administrator in a variety of psychiatric and addictions treatment programs. Her areas of interest include: emotional intelligence and recovery, obsessive compulsive disorders, mood disorders, the role of multicultural issues in recovery, women’s issues and the recovery process.
