Steve DeMarco is the Admissions Director for The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs and has been with The Watershed since its beginning. Steve is a nationally certified addiction counselor and has over 20 years experience in treating people suffering from mental health and addiction problems. He has worked as an interventionist, counselor and an admissions specialist. Steve’s information and referral center helps over 10,000 people a month to find help for themselves or their loved ones at treatment centers throughout the United States. “We throw them a lifeline, and to it we are eternally tethered.”
Dr. Michael Slifer
Dr. Michael Slifer M.D., PhD. is the Corporate Medical Director and came to The Watershed Treatment Programs after spending the early part of his career as an academic physician scientist. Upon completion of his enlistment in the United States Army, Dr. Slifer used the G.I. Bill to facilitate his undergraduate education. Next, Dr. Slifer graduated medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He went on to Duke University for his Psychiatry training, where he then served as Chief Resident for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Additionally, while at Duke, Dr. Slifer completed a fellowship in Geriatrics, and went on to earn a PhD in Human Genetics and enjoyed quite a lot of basketball. Dr. Slifer came to Florida when he was recruited into a tenure track faculty appointment at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Slifer has authored university textbooks, peer reviewed scientific articles, and has been an invited speaker at scientific meetings around the world. Dr. Slifer came to The Watershed to return to his roots, his passion for intensive clinical medicine. He specializes in treatment of individuals with dual diagnoses (patients who suffer from chemical dependency in addition to other mental health conditions). Dr. Slifer is a board certified Psychiatrist, and he is among the first doctors to be board certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Jennifer Tiech functions as the Program Director of The Watershed Boca Raton Facility. She is a licensed mental health counselor and has been working in the field of substance abuse and mental health for the last 20 years. Jennifer Tiech graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University in 1993 and received her Master’s Degree at Nova Southeastern University in 1995. She recently became a qualified supervisor for the State of Florida to help other mental health interns become licensed. Jennifer Tiech has been passionately working at The Watershed for almost 10 years. She began as a therapist and worked her way up to Program Director. Her greatest reward is the feeling she gets from helping others.
Rashida Ross is the program manager for the Women’s Unit (Inpatient, PHP and IOP). She received her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University in 2002 and her MBA from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. Ross has been employed as a therapist at The Watershed since 2001.
