Sharethis Watershed

The beginning of this week was off to a rough start when a Walking Dead actor was taken into handcuffs for alcohol, marijuana, and reckless driving.  The Walking Dead actor arrested was Seth Gilliam, who plays Father Gabriel Stokes on the hit AMC zombie series.

Walking Dead Actor Arrested

On Sunday, May 3 at 2 a.m., Seth Gilliam was clocked doing 107 mph in a 55 mph speed zone along Highway 74 in Peachtree City, Georgia.  When the officer approached Gilliam to question why he was driving so fast, his response was because he normally drove a Jeep but instead was driving a rented Chevrolet and was therefore unfamiliar with it.  The police at the scene smelled alcohol on Gilliam’s breath and discovered a pack of cigarettes inside Gilliam’s car with a marijuana cigarette inside.  Gilliam was brought to Fayette County Jail where he voluntarily took a sobriety test and his blood alcohol level was recorded as .107.  Gilliam thenadmitted to officials that he had consumed three beers and a shot of liquor before getting behind the wheel.  The Walking Dead actor’s official charges ended up being for reckless driving, DUI, and a misdemeanor for marijuana possession.

Prevent Drunk Driving

Of course some people are shocked to hear the news, because of the role the actor plays on the show, but this proves once again that celebrities are humans too. It is unclear if Gilliam has a problem with drugs and alcohol, but one thing is clear, driving under the influence is dangerous and deadly. We hope that others may learn from this mistake and take strong warning when it comes to abusing substances and driving. We also hope that Gilliam learns from his mistakes and does not repeat them, because next time he may not be as fortunate and it may cost a life. Driving under the influence is a serious matter and drunk driving related deaths are 100% preventable. Please help raise awareness that drinking under the influence is never Okay, not matter how invisible you may think you are. If celebrities can be arrested for this, so can you.
