Update 06/02/2016: Autopsy confirmed that Prince did in fact die from a opioid overdose.

Update 05/06/2016: According to another report given by BuzzFeed, Arsenio Hall is apparently suing Sinead O’Connor over the claims that Hall sold prescription painkillers to Prince and drugged her years ago.  O’Conner had posted on Facebook this past week making some pretty strong claims towards Hall as well as Eddie Murphy. At this time, the cause of death has not been released to the public and investigation is still underway.

Update 05/04/2016:Prior to the death of Prince, his team had scheduled an appointment with Dr. Howard Kornfeld, an opioid addiction specialist and owner of “Recovery Without Walls,” to discuss addiction treatment options. The doctor’s son, Andrew Kornfeld, was sent out in his place to talk with Prince, but it was too late. At this time full results of the autopsy are still pending, according to CNN.

RIP Prince Original Story

April 21, 2016 – Singer/songwriter Prince was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota. He was only 57.

His death, while shocking, comes only 6 days after an emergency plane landing for a medical scare. The pop-star was hospitalized at the time for flu-like symptoms, but had also canceled two different shows recently as a result of “health concerns”.

Was Prince On Drugs?

At this time, his cause of death is still unknown, but speculations are that Prince’s emergency hospital visit may have actually been because of a prescription drug overdose, according to Variety.

Drug Overdose Rumor

Prince’s girlfriend, Vanity (whose real name was Denise Matthews), also died at 57. She suffered from kidney failure due to years of crack cocaine abuse according to Daily Mail. In the early 80’s, Prince was known for sex, drugs, and music, but quickly gave it up when he became a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

As the autopsy commences today, many fans are waiting to learn if he was actively abusing Percocet, or if he was taking it as prescribed and experienced an accidental overdose.

RIP Prince 1958 – 2016

Prince Rogers Nelson was an instant pop star after his 1982 album, “1999.” Over a 100 million records have been sold since then. He won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score for the hit 1985 song, “Purple Rain”. Much like David Bowie, Prince was a pop culture icon.

This past week has been exceptionally sad with the sudden passing of two celebrities to potential drug overdoses; both Chyna (former WWE wrestler) and Prince were taken from this earth far too soon.
