#MondayMotivation: Beauty Within | Weekly Meditation
“Do not be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within.” – Beauty and the Beast.
I have found in recovery that I am most happy and feel the most beautiful when I work on my insides first. This is not a new concept, either. If you want to have a healthy mind, body, and spirit you have to work on all three things from the inside out. Otherwise, you’re recovery and happiness may not be guaranteed to last very long. There are also no shortcuts when it comes to success in any area of your life, and this includes recovery.
My emotional well-being is also just as important as my physical health. I nurture my mind, and in order for it to be healthy, I feed it positive fuel. I love positive affirmations because after repeatedly feeding my mind with positive productive thoughts, my emotional health seems to follow. I also feel setting appropriate boundaries is another great way to feed our emotional well-being. When I am actively engaging in self-care, it is easier for me to have the energy and mental well-being to be there for others. It’s an important part of my recovery.
If I am not trying to take care of my body, I am sure to feel sluggish, sick, depressed, and stressed. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, taking any vitamins or health medications that are needed, and doing your best at making sure your body is as healthy as it can be.
Just like our mental and physical health is important, so is our spiritual health. What am I doing today to help me get closer to my Higher Power and build upon my spirituality? My relationship with my Higher Power is reflection of my relationships with myself, people, animals, earth, and everything else in life. Just like any good relationship in life, I have to keep building on it for it to continue.
For me it’s important to work on all three areas as I continue on this journey in recovery. Each passing day is another opportunity to grow towards becoming an even better person than I was the day before. None of these things are done perfectly, but as long as I keep striving for perfection understanding my limitations for being human, I am sure to continue to be happy, joyous, and free.
Just for today, remember that your beauty shines from the inside out.
