Play On

I am a firm believer that laughter and play are a crucial part of not just ones recovery, but life. Yes, there is a time to be serious, but from my experience, there is plenty of time to be serious. Life is serious and real and it can be scary as heck, so when we get the opportunity to laugh, play, and share our joy – we need to take it!

What other people think of me is none of my business

Some of us have been so worried about what other people think and how we look that we forget to be human and let our inner child play. I’d rather be happy than glum, personally speaking. I also want to be clear that I am not talking about immature play where others get hurt, I am talking about living life to the fullest and enjoying every precious moment with laughter, freedom of fear, and complete bliss. What other people think of you is none of your business and doesn’t matter anyway. If someone is judging you for being a carefree spirit than it might be a reflection of themselves and not you. So let them think what they want as you and play our way to happiness.

Freedom from self

I get in my way a lot and had a tendency to worry so much about what other people thought of me that I forgot to be me. I have found throughout the years that I can’t live for anyone else on this earth. I can only do my very best, try to be a better person than I was the day before, and have fun. Many of us missed a lot of our lives drinking and drugging, so of course when we get sober, we don’t want to miss any more. It’s important for us to explore that side of ourselves. The side where we just let go of our fears and play for a little while. If you have been holding back because you are scared, it’s time to allow yourself the freedom to just be happy.

Just for today get out there and play on.
