Play In The Rain

It’s going to rain in life. It will get cloudy and the colors will be gloomy. There will be a time where you will feel sad and not want to get out of bed, but you will anyway. You may not like it and you may kick and scream, but you will do it. You know why you will get out of bed and go about your day? Because others told you it worked for them, and it really did.

Sometimes you just have to play in the rain rather than complain.

Not every day is puppies, rainbows, and ice cream. Sometimes it feels like life is unfair and it sucks, but that does not mean we have to get sucked into negative thinking for long. We have a choice in recovery today – even if you don’t believe it. We can choose to be happy, or at the very least, we can choose to get out of ourselves and play in the rain.  Jump in those puddles and feel the droplets on our face. Smile to the sky and thank our Higher Power for all the miraculous things we do have. We can even be thankful for all the not-so-miraculous things that have happened, too, because it has helped us grow towards becoming the people we were always meant to become. It is up to us if we are to live a life happy, joyous, and free. Remember that when it rains, it’s not raining on you, it’s just simply raining and how you react is entirely up to you.

Sometimes it’s just going to rain, so let it rain.

It’s going to rain and sometimes all we can do is walk through the rain, but better to walk through it then sleep through it. We can certainly sleep on life’s problems to gather a better understanding of what we should do next, but we can’t sleep through life. It’s OK to not be happy everyday (that would be unrealistic anyway), but we are never alone if we make a decision to get out of bed, walk through the rain, and talk to others about our pain. Life is full of wonder and amazement, but we won’t find it hidden under our pillows. We will find it in our fellows and in our meditations, too. Life is all about the journey and how we choose to travel or how we choose to experience our travels will make all the difference in the world.

Just for today, let’s play in the rain together.
