Dream Big

When we come into recovery many of us hit a pretty bad bottom. There are many various bottoms which can include material, physical, and emotional. Sometimes we feel like we may never climb out of the hole we have dug for ourselves, let alone build on our dreams. But, then there are those who have gone on before us that tell us they are living a life beyond their wildest dreams and share that we can do it too.

Whether you are in early recovery or have some time under your belt, you can certainly follow your dreams, no matter how big they are. As alcoholics and addicts, we can in most cases stop ourselves from living out our dreams because they seem too big or scary, but those are exactly the kind of dreams we need to chase. We didn’t get sober to just exist or survive; we got sober to live life to the fullest. If we can recover from a disease that should have killed us, we can certainly live out our dreams, too.

I never thought I would be where I am today and because of recovery, I have been able to build a really cool life for myself filled with healthy living and adventures.  I never would be where I am today had I given up on my sobriety and up on my dreams. Everyone has the opportunity to live the life they have always wanted to live, but it’s up to you to go after them.

Today is your day! No more wishing about it, it’s time to go after it. What are your dreams and what have you been doing to block yourself from living out your dreams? Life is all about living and everyone deserves a second chance, so why not you?

You are worth it.

You deserve a better life.

You are a miracle.

Stop just surviving and start living!
