Be Strong Meditation

“If you do the next right thing, the next right thing happens!” ever hear that one? Although it’s a nice saying, it’s not always true. What comes with this saying is this belief: if you are always a good person, always doing the right thing, and never causing harm to others, you will be exempt from all the bad things that happen in life. The truth is that life is going to happen, bad things are going to happen, and it might get messy, but that does not mean you have to pick up over it. Sometimes we just have to push through all the bad stuff to get to the good stuff – we just have to be strong enough to do it.

Most of us in recovery have been through some pretty dark times, and it is because of those dark times that we not only appreciate the beautiful life we have today, but we are living in gratitude over it. We are told that when we come into recovery we will be able to go through trials and tribulations and still stay clean and sober. The other side of being strong is knowing when to ask for help or when to lean on our Higher Power and ask for guidance. As we grew through these “bad” experiences, we learned that we were much stronger than we thought. We later saw how our experience could help others not only recover, but get through their troubles and stay sober.

Life is not always going to be butterflies and sunshine, but it will be an adventure for sure. Some of us have had to go through some pretty horrific experiences, some are going through it right now, but it does not have to end there. You did not come this far to be dropped, and you have not worked this hard to just give up – you are a warrior. Keep calm and be strong, there is a rainbow at the end of the storm, but you have to keep pushing through.
