Motivational Meditation Monday: Keep Calm & Be Awesome
Self-confidence is the most attractive quality a person can have. How can anyone see how awesome you are if you can't see it yourself? – Ritu Ghatourey
Be Awesome Meditation
How you perceive yourself is how others will perceive you. If you are fake, others will see that. Your character can’t be covered by expensive clothes, makeup, jewelry, accessories, cars, homes, or any of those other worldly possessions people use to make themselves feel OK. The people who are happy with themselves, living healthy and fulfilled lives, and are about helping others are not interested in those characteristics. The way we live and feel can also be seen on who we surround ourselves with. Ever hear the saying “you are the company you keep?”
How many people have we seen come in and out of the rooms that looked great, had the best clothes, appeared to boom with confidence (or maybe it was cockiness), always had the best looking girl/guy on their arm, and basically had everything materially that we wanted? How many times did we also see that same person slowly die in front of us and go back out, or stay in the rooms bringing their toxic behaviors to others and causing harm to those around them? The program of recovery is not about what is on the outside, it’s about what is on the inside.
When you take away all the material possessions, how happy are you? If you took away all those material possessions of the people you admire, how do you see them now? When we work a program of recovery our wants and needs tend to change. The longer we stay sober, the more of a desire we have to grow spirituality. We began to see life, those around us, and even ourselves very differently. We became more concerned with the inside stuff and less about the material world, we were happy with who we were.
The most attractive quality anyone can have is what is on the inside. Confidence through acceptance, good character, a loving heart, proper motives, desire to grow, and helping others is the best skin anyone could ever wear. Being in recovery we have the opportunity to change and be happy. If you are more concerned with what is on the outside in yourself and in others, you may miss something spectacular. You may be missing out on true happiness.
May you always grow and your insides glow.
