The New Ford Drunk Driving Simulator Is Pretty Wild – VIDEO

Ford Driving Skills for Life started a drunk driving simulator program back in 2003 to help teach people about the dangers of drunk driving. What is amazing about this program is that it offers a series of courses which enables the driver to experience what it’s like being inebriated behind the wheel without having to consume alcohol or drugs to do so.

How do they create a drunk driving simulator with the alcohol? Well, it’s simple – they put weights on various body parts, ear muffs to comprise hearing, and special googles to impair vision. All these factors combined make the teen feel intoxicated and in even less control than they might otherwise think or feel. What is even more awesome about this drunk driving simulator program, is that they are sober enough to recall the feeling of not being in full control helping remind them to not drink and drive. Some sobering statistics according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

50% – 75% of drunk drivers who have been convicted continue to drive while their licence is suspended.
