#MondayMotivation: Step 11 | Weekly Meditation
Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace!
That where there is hatred,
I may bring love.
That where there is wrong,
I may bring the spirit of forgiveness.
That where there is discord,
I may bring harmony.
That where there is error,
I may bring truth.
That where there is doubt,
I may bring faith.
That where there is despair,
I may bring hope.
That where there are shadows,
I may bring light.
That where there is sadness,
I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort,
than to be comforted.
than to be understood.
than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to eternal life.
Step 11, Given and Received
Reciting a simple prayer can change an entire attitude towards people, places, and things. Being of service to others and this world is what gives us peace, happiness, serenity, and wholeness. Building that connection with our higher power and letting it flow through us to others feeds our spiritual being. It allows us to breath and walk freely among our fellows. What a gift to be given and received.
Recovery provides us with so many gifts, gifts that we may not even know we wanted or needed. The gift of peace, tolerance, love, understanding, freedom, and patience. The gift of turning over our will to a power greater than ourselves. The gift of desperation and surrender. These are the gifts that fill our souls, heart, and our lives today and it is because of these gifts that we find true happiness and peace of mind.
Just for today, repeat this prayer so that we are reminded of all the wonderful gifts of recovery that are given and received.
