Recovery Can Work!
A research study that was conducted by the academic journal Crime & Delinquency stated that approximately 50% of state prisoners meet the criteria for a diagnosis of drug abuse or dependence; however, only 10% of prisoners receive drug treatment. What’s even more alarming about these numbers is that America could be saving. And a whopping 12.9 billion dollars if the remaining 40% were treated, rather than incarcerated.
Our nation is in a state of crisis when it comes to drug addiction. The more awareness there is about recovery, the more lives and money can be saved.
Recovery does work. The Watershed has helped over 50,000 addicts and alcoholics since 1998, and we understand that addiction is a disease and not a moral dilemma – so let’s treat it like one!
