“Healing comes when we choose to walk away from the darkness and move towards a brighter light.” – Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Heal, Healing, Healed
Healing is the wonderful part of recovery. When we get clean and sober we begin the healing process both physically and mentally.
We learn a new way to handle situations and how to be patient with ourselves and our bodies. For some this process is rather easy, or others it can be more difficult, but one thing for sure is that healing can come to us all provided we are seeking a brighter light rather than the darkness.
Healing is also part of life
So it can come at various times throughout our recovery the longer we stay clean and sober. The more we grow through trial and tribulation, the closer we get to our higher power. The closer we get to our higher power, the more we heal.
Whether it is emotional pain or physical pain, we will heal. It can be difficult to believe sometimes when we are in the thick of it, but it will happen. The frustrating part for many is the not knowing when we will be healed, but that too is a process. A process that may take two steps forward and one step back, but as long as we are actively seeking being healed, remaining positive, and putting our actions into being happy, healthy, and free, we will heal.
Today, write down some positive affirmations and repeat them to yourself throughout the day. Allow yourself to absorb and feel the words you say. Also, give yourself time to heal. Do not put a time cap on when you are supposed to be healed and allow the process to unfold exactly how it is meant to. Now, let go and give up the results to a higher power. You will be amazed at how powerful recovery can be.
Just for today, I will remain positive and allow the healing process to take however long it needs to take without expectations.
