#DetoxMonday: Practice Tolerance

Patience, Love, & Tolerance
It is so easy to be tolerant of others (even our enemies) when we feel physically well, spiritually fit, and emotionally stable, but it can be very difficult when all three of those things are not in order. Sometimes we have to really pull deep down into ourselves and ask our higher power for help, while also be willing to accept said help.
Sometimes tolerance simply comes from keeping a closed mouth and that is easier said than done when you have reached a boiling point. On days where I know I am going to be pretty intolerant, I tend to ramp on my prayer and meditation. Sometimes this works, and sometimes I have to do it several times throughout the day. It’s about progress more than perfection on those days. The important thing to remember is to try your best and not give up.
If you are feeling intolerant today, this week, this month, or even this year, it’s Okay. You are not alone and there are steps and actions you can take to help you come out of it.
Steps Towards Being Tolerant & Patient
- Continue prayer and meditation practices. Find new ways to help you connect with your higher power.
- Talk with your spiritual advisor and sober supports about any issues that you believe may be holding you back from happiness, peace of mind, and serenity.
- Make sure you are taking care of yourself. Self-care is an important part of recovery.
- Help others to the best of your ability.
Just for today, practice tolerance knowing that you might fall short. Be about the action regardless and do not beat yourself up when you do not perform this act perfectly. Correct any wrongs you have done, but remember to allow yourself and others to human.
