#DetoxMonday: Stop Fishing | Meditation
“The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.” – Unknown.
Stop fishing for compliments, stop fishing for lust, stop fishing for material things – just stop fishing!
You are strong enough, you are attractive enough, you are smart enough, and you are kind enough, and you are good enough for yourself and this world. You don’t need the approval of anyone in order for you to be happy, joyous, and free. I promise.
How do I know? Because that has been my experience and countless others. We may not even know we are fishing for anything until all of a sudden no matter how many likes we get on social media, how many men/women chase us, no matter how many material things we possess, they just aren’t good enough. It is then that we are forced to stop and look deep within ourselves and ask:
“Am I happy with the person I have become?”
If the answer is yes, then go about your day.
If the answer is no or if you feel you have more room to grow, then today is the day you start to change some things.
Every human being wants to feel loved, wanted, complimented, and appreciated, and that is okay, but don’t base your entire self-worth and self-esteem solely on what others think of you or what others have that you don’t have. It’s not only a miserable way to live, but you’ll find yourself competing with others and yourself in a way that just isn’t productive. I would much rather be happy than have a million likes on social, a million dollars, or a million guys chasing me because I know all that “stuff” isn’t what makes me happy. What makes me happy is helping others and just trying my best each day to be a good person. That’s the person I adore. The woman who wants to cherish and live life to the fullest while also loving herself and others.
Just for today, stop fishing, you are good enough. I promise.
