Denzel Washington Speech Inspires: Why My Pain & Suffering Is A Gift
All the pain, struggles, suffering, anger, fear, sickness, and loneliness is without regret.
It’s my talent.
My special experience.
So that I can help you.
You see, I went through my trials and tribulations for you. I suffered the long, torturous, agonizing pains of addiction so that I may share with you my experience – my gift. I did all of that so that you can recover, too.
My gift to you is all my painful experiences and the risks I took to get sober. You see, I was like you. I didn’t believe I could recover. If I believed that I was doomed to die from the disease of addiction. And I didn’t have faith in myself , I didn’t have faith in others. And I didn’t believe I deserved their gift.
Also, I know you don’t believe you deserve my gift, but I want you to have it anyway. I believe you deserve it. I believe you are worth it and I came out of all that pain and suffering to give it to you.
Will you accept my gift? Will you take the risk and join me in recovery?
Inspiring Denzel Washington Speech – Fall Forward
Denzel Washington said in commencement speech he gave at Penn State in 2011, “I found nothing in life is worth while unless you take risks. Nothing!”
“If I am going to fall, I don’t want to fall back on anything. I want to fall forward. I figure at least this way I’ll see what I am going to hit.”
Watch Now: Denzel Washington – Fall Forward Speech
So, I say to you – fall forward.
Those of us who have taken that risk to do whatever it took to get clean and sober have been given a gift. We all took a huge risk to fall forward into recovery, and most of us had nothing to fall back on.
For those of you who think you are too weak, remember that it takes a lot of courage, strength, and determination to keep that addiction alive. You are braver than you give yourself credit for.
So, I say now is your time to fall forward. And when you doubt whether you should join us in recovery or not, I just have these two questions to ask you:
What else do you have to lose, when all you have has already been given to your addiction?
If you are going to take a risk in life, why wouldn’t it be to save it?
Are you ready for the gift of recovery, yet? I’m ready.Tags: gift of desperation, inspiration, monday motivation
