What Happened To Amanda Bynes?
What happened to Amanda Bynes? Before reporters jumped on the recent Amanda Bynes reports, the star was all giggles and smiles as she was rising to fame after winning herself a spot on the hit comedy show “All That,” which eventually brought her to her own television skit series known as “The Amanda Show.” The way the current 28-year-old has been acting out over the past couple of years would no doubtingly make fans wonder what happened to Amanda Bynes. She seemed to be staying out of trouble for a while and abiding by the rules of her probationary period, until now that is.
What Happened to Amanda Bynes? The Recap
Being a character herself, the vibrant actress-comedian is now more widely-known for her famous incidents that ultimately left her back under the custody of her mother due to how apparently concerning and unstable her mental health grew. The former child star tarnished her police record when for the first time on April 6, 2012 she acquired a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. She refused to take the breathalyzer or submit to a blood alcohol test, and it didn’t help that it was a police officer’s car she hit at the early hour of three in the morning. Three days later, her father, Rick, was quick to enable his daughter by saying that she had not been drinking that night and was rather just “upset and emotional” about the accident altogether. Perhaps this would have been more convincing if Amanda didn’t wreck her rental car the day after he was quoted saying this. She went on to deny her DUI charges for the next following months. The troubled young woman’s bizarre behavior began to come out in June 2012 when she turned to her Twitter account to reach out to President Obama about her dispute with the law and request that he terminate the officer who charged her. Throughout the remainder of 2012, Amanda continued to display troublesome actions including more accidents behind the wheel, driving when she had a suspended license, hiding in public restrooms and retail dressing rooms for hours, and being inappropriately arousing in the community. She continued to go on her Twitter and vulgarly lash out on celebrities – some of which were very close friends – like Jenny McCarthy, Zac Efron, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Courtney Love, Jay Z, and Drake. What happened to Amanda Bynes being that joyful and humorous girl that fans admire for her kindred spirit? Following this, Amanda allegedly began walking around with a joint in public and upload racy pictures of herself on the internet. This led to her May 2013 arrest in New York in which she was charged with allegedly tossing a bong from a high story window of her apartment complex. A couple platinum and teal wig sightings of the female star later, a news story broke of Amanda Bynes being forced onto a 5150 psychiatric hold after catching a stranger’s house on fire near her family’s home in California.
New DUI Charges
Either the tabloids seemed to be giving Amanda Bynes a break or her life honestly became much milder than previously reported in the past. This past Sunday, September 28, the actress was arrested and taken in around 4 am. She was pulled over for stopping her vehicle after the stop line and being mid-intersection. Upon suspicion of being under the influence, she failed several sobriety tests. Although it is unknown what Amanda Bynes was under the influence of, a source close to the star claimed it was her prescription. Even so, prescription drugs should be monitored and not misused, especially if they get to the point where the prescription drugs cloud the person’s ability to drive their own vehicle.
With all the chaos created, the star has the public shaking their heads questioning what happened to Amanda Bynes over the years? Mental illness and addiction are diseases that can affect every area of a person’s life. They do not discriminate and can occur even in a celebrity like Amanda Bynes’ life. Hopefully, the young star realizes that she cannot continue to walk down the same path she has gone down before and will make the commitment to continue on with healthy choices that support her recovery process.
Amanda Bynes Updates
10/8: Amanda Bynes confirmed that she had taken her prescribed Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) medication, Adderall, on the day she was arrested. It has also been speculated that she may have smoked marijuana that day because she stated she has an additional prescription for medical marijuana as well. A patrol official commented on the situation saying the star was acting as though she was “under the influence of a stimulant” and that she might have taken several drugs when she was pulled over. However, whether she took more than her prescribed medication remains unknown at this time. Bynes was let go from the mandated close watch of her parents earlier this past month. “I was miserable living with them,” the star spoke of the situation. “I would have rather been in jail.” If the troubled celebrity doesn’t take action to implement some positive change into her life, this may be a harsh, upcoming reality for her.
10/10: Allegedly concerned her family was planning on intervening and bringing her to a mental health facility located somewhere in New York, Amanda Bynes turned to her Twitter and created some vicious allegations about her father sexually abusing her when she was a child. Her mother says the claims are false and afterward Bynes deleted the tweets. Her last Tweet read, “My dad never did any of those things. The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me.” Hearing statements like this and how she acted towards her family over the internet, Amanda might benefit from receiving some help to practice more rational, healthy behavior.
10/13: After the Twitter incident of Amanda’s false accusations against her father, it was reported that the star was officially set up to be brought into a treatment facility. She was on her way Friday, October 10 from New York to Los Angeles, California under the impression that she was meeting up with Sam Lufti, who is known for when he intervened with Britney Spears’ pressing mental health concerns in 2008. However, Bynes believed she was going to be speaking with Lufti and lawyers to sue her family, but instead was brought to treatment in Pasadena, where she will be released this Monday afternoon unless held up for the full two weeks maximum. Her parents ideally want to assume conservatorship of their daughter once again in order to contain her unstable state of mind at this time.
