Miley Cyrus Is At The Legal Drinking Age
November 24th – Miley Cyrus finally hit the legal drinking age. Miley Cyrus’ birthday party included strippers, booze, and even an unexpected Dr. Seuss character. She celebrated her 21st birthday on Sunday, November 25th after she made a special appearance at the American Music Awards (AMA’s), where the singer performed Wrecking Ball. Cyrus may have kept it classy at the AMA’s, but not so much at her after party. Miley Cyrus’ birthday cake was in fact a statue of her with nothing but marijuana leaves covering specific places of the figure. Although Miley Cyrus’ birthday party was a hit, there are some dangers to hitting the legal drinking age, also known as a “right of passage.”
Legal Drinking Age: Dangerous Drinking
There are many milestones in a young persons life: entering the double digit club at age 10, becoming a true teenager at midnight of your 13th bithday, finally getting your driver’s license at age 16 or 17 and no longer suffering with embarassing parent drop offs and pick ups from school or other events, and hitting the much anticipated age of 18 – opening the doors for all sorts of adult activities, like voting, legally purchasing cigarettes, and a slew of other priviledges.
And then, you finally hit the glorious age of 21 – the legal drinking age. Although the legal drinking age may be something to look forward to in life, it can also be extremely dangerous. Whether it be alcohol poisoning from the “21 shots game” or a drunk driving death, the dangers can go on and on.
Maintaining A Safe Birthday When First Hitting The Legal Drinking Age
NEVER drink and drive, or drive under the influence of any substance: Self-explanatory.
If you are not an alcoholic or addict, drink responsibly. Turning 21 is a big deal, and remembering it would be nice. And if you’re not drinking heavily, you won’t end up with a nasty hangover or worse – an embarassing ER visit for alcohol poisoning.
Celebrate with people that you trust: It’s extremely easy to get drugged at a bar; all someone has to do is slip something in your drink when you’re not looking. People that you trust will protect you and take care of you.
Switch it up: If you do choose to drink, try alternating beverages- alcohol, then water, etc. (And we don’t mean by chugging them back to back!)
There are 1,440 minutes of your birthday, why waste them all being drunk? Drink water or soda and you can still have the time of your life!
The legal drinking age is a right of passage but can be extremely dangerous if you drink in excess. Miley Cyrus’ birthday party and her now “socially acceptable” binge drinking may be a bad influence on her fans, especially the younger ones. It’s important to know whether you need help with your drinking or drugging before it becomes a major problem in your life. Please remember that you are never too young or old to develop a drinking or drugging problem, addiction can affect anyone at any age.
