Learning How to Overcome Fear
Awareness: before you learn how to overcome fear, you need to be aware that you are in fact filled with fear(s). Denial is a big obstacle that will hold you back.
Identify: It’s good to get more specific with what your fears are. They may be: fear of the unknown, spiders, heights, change, commitment, communication, etc. Knowing exactly what fear(s) you’re dealing with will help you in the long run when you are learning how to overcome fear(s).
Gratitude: Look around and decide what you’re grateful for; look at your life and see what you’ve overcome thus far. You’ve gotten a long way in your life with or without your fears – imagine the possibilities and opportunities your life will hold once you’ve dealt with your fears.
Take Action: Whether the action is a 12 step program and sponsor, therapy or a life coach, getting help and talking about your fears is an effective way to letting go of them.
Surrender: It’s time to throw up that little white flag and release control. Whatever is binding you to this fear, let it go.
