Toronto Mayor, Rob Ford, Confessed to Using Crack Cocaine
After numerous times of denying these allegations, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s crack use finally comes out. Recently Rob Ford confessed to using the illicit drug, crack cocaine. Ford stated that he only tried it once though, possibly on a drunken bender, and he is truly sorry that he embarrassed his city.
Police have investigated the allegations that for quite some time and are now saying that they have an actual video of the Toronto Mayor smoking crack cocaine. After the video leaked out, the Toronto Mayor stated that he has no recollection of a video being taken at that time, and would like to view it. Because the Toronto Mayor has confessed about his crack cocaine use, it was suggested that he resigns from office for a few months and re-run next fall; Rob Ford refuses to step down and plans on keeping the job he was elected to do. The Toronto Mayor has stated that he only tried Crack Cocaine one time and that he is not an addict, but is that really true?
Toronto Mayor Smoked Crack
Long before the Crack Cocaine allegations and Ford’s confession, the Toronto Mayor was a source of controversy and has definitely had some colorful moments in his career. In March, rumor has it that Ford’s staff confronted him about his alcohol problem and suggested treatment; instead of denying all allegations, he proceeded to call the staff pathological liars. The Toronto Mayor has also been accused of sexually assaulting a former female mayoral candidate, but denied such allegations. Risky sexual behaviors is one of the side effects of crack cocaine, but Ford still denied all allegations to sexually assaulting the former candidate. The Toronto Mayor has denied so many accusations and allegations, but finally ended up coming clean about the crack cocaine use. So the question still remains, if there are already rumors that the Toronto Mayor has been approached for his alcohol abuse, could he also have a drug addiction problem?
What Is A Crack Cocaine Addiction?
Crack cocaine is between 75% and 100% pure, and is stronger and more potent than regular cocaine. Smoking crack cocaine allows the chemicals to reach the brain more rapidly and brings an intense and immediate euphoric feeling. When the short-lived high starts to come down, the user will begin to feel agitation, irritation and discomfort. The Toronto Mayor is just one of 25 million Americans that have used cocaine at least once. After marijuana, crack cocaine is the second most commonly used illegal drug in the US. There is no safe way to use crack cocaine. Not only does crack cocaine cause serious medical conditions, but crack cocaine is an extremely addictive drug and affects the brain chemistry of the user. Crack cocaine hits the blood stream almost instantly and can last anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. Crack is also highly addictive and most users find themselves addicted to the substance after just one use. The statement that the Toronto Mayor made about “only trying it one time” and that he’s not an addict is highly debatable considering the facts about crack and his questionable behaviors over the past year.
