“The root of suffering is attachment.” – The Buddha
Detachment does not mean that you walk away from everything and detach from life, it just means that whatever you are holding onto so tightly does not have to control you. I think sometimes detaching from people, places, and things can be scary because it means letting go of control and comfort – even if it’s toxic.
The other side of detachment is the wonder of what is next? Will this be better for me or make my life worse? What is the answer? So many questions pop up and that is when fear begins to take over. We continue to control and attach ourselves more because we fear what would happen if we let go.
No matter what you are holding onto so tightly, it is time to free yourself and detach. Let your Higher Power take over and guide you. Remember, if it is meant to be it will be and it will feel natural and right. If it is not meant to be, then it will feel like a struggle and draining.
Suffering can begin to end when we let go of our control and allow our true path in life to unfold. No matter what, you are not alone and your Higher Power is right there with you.
