“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying ‘I will try again tomorrow.” – Mary Anne Radmacher

Never Give Up
When we go through things in life in our recovery we often wonder how in the world we are going to get through it. The only thing we have to grab onto at the time is that others before us tell us that we will and how to do it. This brings us hope.
Sometimes we push through these issues quickly and sometimes it takes time, patience, and tolerance until we are through the storm, quietly repeating to ourselves that we must never give up. Through different experiences we are able to know in our hearts that this too shall pass and that we will get through it, but it doesn’t mean it is without fear.
No matter how long we have in recovery we can still experience fear. It is because fear is a very human trait. The great news recovery and our fellows bring is that we don’t have to stay in that fear and we can turn it over to faith. Sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, but we can turn it over.
Recovery and life is about the journey, and not the destination, and when I remember that I am not in charge of the world and I loosen up my grip on my life and others, things seem to just work out exactly as they are supposed to. In fact, I know I couldn’t have planned it better than myself.
Just for today, I will turn over my life and will to the care of a Higher Power and never give up.
