1 in 15 people that abuse prescription pain killers will also try heroin within 10 years, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). There has also been a 286% increase in heroin-related overdose deaths from 2002-2013, reports the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, the CDC reports that heroin abuse has more than doubled among young adults from the age of 15-18 in the past 10 years.

If you believe
that heroin can’t affect you or your children, you’re wrong and you could be dead wrong if you don’t start educating yourself and take some serious action to either prevent or treat addiction.
The fact is that our nation is under attack and drugs are to blame. When we make light of a very tragic situation like heroin abuse, we are taking away the urgency that is desperately needed in combating heroin addiction in the U.S.
America is facing a heroin epidemic and it’s not funny. Countless lives are being lost to the disease of addiction and if we don’t start raising more awareness about this issue and take some serious action, more lives are going to be lost.
