This past weekend, “Full House” and “ER” star, John Stamos, was arrested in Beverly Hills, CA. Hollywood’s 51-year-old heartthrob was allegedly taken to the hospital where he was later placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI, police stated.
John Stamos Arrested
The Beverly Hills police department was contacted by several citizens concerned about a possible drunk driver on the roadways. When police pulled over actor John Stamos, he was alone in the vehicle. Stamos was taken to a hospital nearby because of a possible medical condition, details of which remain unknown. After further investigation, Police placed him under arrest for driving under the influence. His court date is set for September 11, 2015 at the LAX courthouse.
Stamos Speaks Out
After news went public about the arrest, the Hollywood star spoke out about the incident. “Thanks to everyone for their love & support,” John Stamos posted on his Twitter account. “I’m home & well. Very appreciative of the BHPD & Cedars for their care.”
Stamos has signed on to produce and reprise his role as “Uncle Jesse” on the anticipated 13-episode 2016 Netflix reboot, “Fuller House,” alongside Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, Lori Loughlin, Candace Cameron Bure, and Jodie Sweetin. Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin are no strangers to battling their own issues while in the public eye. While Candace has recovered from bulimia after struggling for years, Jodie has written a memoir about her methamphetamine abuse and her recovery.
In 2007, John Stamos was drunk while being interviewed on Australian TV. The allegations that he was drunk were dismissed and he claimed that it was a combo of jet-lag and sleeping pills, additionally stating, “I do not have an alcohol problem.” Flash forward, Stamos finally admitted to being drunk on the show.
“I’ll be honest: When I went on that morning show, I was drunk.” He explained how his representatives wanted him to cover up the situation, “I never said I wasn’t [drunk], but that whole Warner Bros publicity machine got involved and said, ‘Just say he was jet-lagged.’ Yes, I was on sleeping pills and I was jet-lagged but I was also just plastered. I said, ‘No, tell ‘em the truth! I was f****** drunk in Australia.’”
So, the real question here is, does John Stamos have a problem with alcohol, or are these just isolated incidents? Only Stamos can answer that question, but we hope that he takes this recent encounter with the law very seriously for his sake as well as others. Driving under the influence has deadly consequences, and it does not matter how much money you have or how famous you are, it can change the lives of everyone involved and even those not directly involved. Alcohol abuse is a serious matter and if Stamos does need help, we hope he is able to get some now to prevent future issues like this one.
