MTV Miley Cyrus smoked a joint onstage while accepting her award for Best Video for her hit song “Wrecking Ball,” at the 2013 MTV EMAs (European Music Awards). Miley Cyrus is not wasting any time on trying to enhance her new adult image, instead of her childhood role as Disney’s Hannah Montana. After her headlining performance at the VMA’s earlier this year, confirming that she does in fact use the drug Molly, Cyrus told Rolling Stone magazine that she will never act like that again and she knew that it looked weird. What happened to that statement Miley?
MTV Miley Cyrus Smokes Weed
Mileys new image just doesn’t seem to be that shocking anymore. More and more stars are coming out about their drug use and drug addictions. Lady Gaga just recently came out about her marijuana addiction and its proof that addiction doesn’t care who you are or how much money you have. Look at Lindsey Lohan, Amanda Bynes, Britney Spears; all suffering from some form of substance abuse issues or mental health illnesses. Is MTV Miley Cyrus next? She obviously does not care about the image she is giving herself, not to mention the effect it can have on her fans. When Miley lit that joint on stage the crowd went wild with applause and cheers. Some people may not think that it’s a big deal, but with millions struggling with drug addiction, it’s difficult to not be disturbed by that reaction. This very reaction just keeps encouraging Miley to push the bar. The question is: how far does that bar need to be pushed before MTV Miley Cyrus ends up a full blown addict?
MTV Miley Cyrus: Breaking The Stigma Of Addiction
By Miley glamorizing drug use, it can also fuel the stigma held against addiction and the addicts who are struggling. People who are suffering from the disease of addiction usually start out smoking weed or drinking alcohol. These celebrities continuously displaying that it’s “cool” to do Molly or smoke marijuana could aid in the progression of drug abuse among teens, ultimately resulting in addiction. Drug addiction can be easily prevented by spreading awareness about the disease of addiction and helping show that you can party sober and have fun. We hope that Miss MTV Miley Cyrus doesn’t have to go down the dark path that many addicts and alcoholics have been in order to stop abusing drugs.
